Joni was born and raised in California. She married her husband, Rick, in 1974. They raised their three children, Jacie, Karri, and Cody. After working their entire lives, they sold their ranch in California and moved to Oklahoma in 2006. They still live on a ranch with their horses, cattle, dogs, cats and wildlife.
Having a father who was an artist, she always loved to do some form of artwork, but did not have the opportunity to pursue learning techniques until moving to Oklahoma.
With the guidance and tutelage of wonderful artists, she is following her quest to produce art that evokes the emotional side of viewers.
Most of her work is inspired by her own photographs on her ranch, but she also uses other people's photos, with permission granted.
She shares her time between a busy horse training, barrel racing schedule, and her painting.
"My love of art, nature, and animals is my constant inspiration to try and capture the essence of what I feel when I see something that touches me emotionally."
